In the 1980’s, Bruno Nuytten was a leading photography director. From Duras to Blier, from Téchiné to Berri… His images made their films unforgettable. After directed 4 films himself, he abandoned filmmaking. Confused by this desertion, I always wanted to understand, because I could sense the wisdom of this choice. Bruno and I spoke of this and more, over several days. I visited him once more, this time with a camera, to watch him “keep his hands busy”. From these images, new ones emerged, ultimately creating a character.
