The visitor enters a dark room and sees the Temporium standing close to a screen. This sculpture houses an animated laboratory, a mix of mechanotronics and living cultures. From time to time this fully autonomous apparatus comes to life from an exchange of fluxes, captures and regulations, allowing the formation of a living image. The living image and projection on the screen come together in the same space-time. An interface enables their symbiosis. In real time it captures the formation of the living image, awakens the organs of the Temporium or adjusts the duration of the film sequences in response to the movement of the micro algae. There is a permanent back-and-forth motion, making each session a unique experience. The film follows the life of Hidetoshi, a debt-ridden forty-something drowning in his routine. One evening, he discovers a mysterious advertisement in his letter box: “We can help you disappear. Leave it all up to us. Total success guaranteed.” But to “disappear” means accomplishing the volcano ritual before starting a new life. At its summit, a true revelation will gradually lead him to his deepest destiny, his BECOMING-ALGA.
